Evening classes resuming for the Autumn Term.

+ Up-dates

What’s coming up?

Currently all the places on the Tuesday evening class are taken, however, students have lives outside the classes which mean that they drop out from time to time. So please contact us if you would like to be informed when a place becomes available, and we will add you to our list.

See bottom of this page for prices etc.

Please remember, if you have suggestions for othe classes or events you would be interested in attending (if we were to run them) let us know, and if they seem feasable we'll try see what we can do

We are also planning two linked Saturdays, two weeks apart (dates to be confirmed).

On the first Saturday you will make one major piece of work and several small pieces for raku firing.

By the second Saturday all your pieces will have been biscuit fired and you will decorate and glaze the major piece.

Also you will decorate and raku-fire the raku pieces. This process (in the best traditions of Raku) will be accompanied by a barbecue and a some wine (or fruit juice).

Price for the two Saturdays, including all materials, firings, food and drinks will be £100 per person.

**We’ve been making some changes in the studio.

The addition of a fourth potter’s wheel meant that

it was sensible to move all the wheels into the

inner-room to make a “throwing room”. We have

also added a second, large extruder to the armoury

which gives us (and you) a bit more versatility.

We’ve also enlarged the door-way between the two

rooms (and removed the door) so that it’s not such a

bottle-neck.

The usual term will be in       5 week blocks     which will be paid for in advance.

The fee is                                                           £30 for 5 weeks.

Firing and material costs are additional:-

Standard materials @ £2 per kg (weight of finished item)

                                    Specialist materials (eg.porcelain, gold lustre,etc)calculated.

Firings to be calculated.     (average £2:50p per 5 weeks)

Classes last   2 1/2   hours (from 6:30 to 9:00 pm)

We can take a maximum of 10 students, but need a minimum of 8 students to break even (or we cannot run a block).     Places are offered on a "first come first serve" basis and students are committed to paying for consecutive classes (even if they cannot attend   all of them).

We are happy to take absolute beginners, but feel we have much to offer experienced makers as well.

The Studio is an old "Fulling Mill" with an uneven cobbled floor, so we advise that sensible shoes with warm socks   should be worn.

We do not take on students under the age of 15 years.   This is partly for Health & Safety reasons, but also because some parents enjoy one "grown-up-evening" per week.

We would like to   add a regular afternoon   class to our   timetable if we can generate enough interest.

This would probably be on Tuesday from 12:30 to 3:00pm. If you, or anyone you know would be interested, please let us know.
